Self-Care Agreement and Waiver
Please read prior to participating in movement/dance and meditation-based classes or workshops
with Nadia Stolpner
Greetings. Each
person is responsible for taking care of their physical and emotional
well-being during and after the classes.
Movement/dance, meditation and all other activities are
offered as suggestions and each participant is encouraged to trust their
instincts and participate to their level of comfort, this may include
modifying the exercises as they see fit and choosing to not participate
in what is offered.
Physical Wellness:
- Movement to faster and energetic music rhythms is one of the class components. You need to be aware of any movement or other restrictions you may have and are responsible for making adaptations. Examples of adaptations include taking a break, just watching (with kind awareness), moving seated in a chair or lying down instead of standing, changing the movements and the intensity, as well as discontinuing the activity at any time.
- For online classes: please take a look at the physical space you will move in and clear it of any objects that may interfere with movement before the class.
- For outdoor classes: even though the facilitator will try to clear the surface we will move on of objects, it is not possible to clear the space fully; please be mindful when you move and wear shoes when you find this is needed. In the colder months please be mindful that the grounds may be covered with ice/slippery and that objects on the ground may be covered and hard to see: you are responsible for making adjustments to create safety for yourself.
- If you experience challenges with balance, dizziness or other conditions that can interfere with moving safely, please consult with a family doctor/an appropriate health care practitioner about suitability of the classes and any adaptations needed before class. For online classes: Please make any arrangements needed prior to your class, such as arrangement to have someone you can be in contact with during the class or afterwards for any support if needed, as class facilitator will not be available.
Mental Wellness:
- Classes and workshops can have therapeutic benefits but are not psychotherapy.
- As
with any awareness practice, being present in our bodies and with our
minds can make us more aware of our feelings, thoughts, body sensations
and sometimes memories. This can be a source of growth for many people. Occasionally, in certain situations where mental health challenges are present, the increased awareness may be destabilising and participation is not recommended. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to be in touch with me or with a family doctor/mental health professional before joining.
If you have any concerns about potential impact of participating in the classes on your mental, physical or any other aspect of your health, please be in touch with your family doctor/appropriate health care provider (and/or facilitator Nadia in cases of any concerns related to mental health) prior to participating.
Please keep Nadia updated on your situation and needs. If you would like more information on what we
do in the classes, do not hesitate to be in touch.
